About Dan Greenfield

Dan Greenfield is a veteran communications executive and principal of Bernaise Source Media, a new and traditional media consulting practice.

Standing at the intersection of Main Street (consumer), Wall Street (financial), K Street (policy and public affairs) and Sand Hill Road (technology), Dan is a widely read industry blogger and has held a variety of media positions from corporate communications vice president to press secretary and video producer. Over the course of his career, Dan has worked with small and Fortune 1000 corporations, elected officials and political candidates, and non-profit organizations on issues related to telecommunications, Internet access, ecommerce, health care and the environment.

His expertise is translating overall business goals into specific communications strategies to reach their targeted stakeholders. Dan navigates clients through the complex world of traditional and new media. His background includes strategic planning, reputation management, brand enhancement, media relations, public policy, and competitive market analysis.

Dan began his career in broadcast news and documentary film and later served on several political campaigns at the state and national levels. He was a press secretary for gubernatorial candidate Bruce Morrison in Connecticut and later Congressman Mike Synar on Capitol Hill.

Dan worked for Washington, DC-based PR firm Powell-Tate representing a consortium of pharmaceutical companies. Dan then moved to MCI (later MCI-WorldCom) where he focused on public policy issues related to the Internet and telephone competition.

In 1999, he joined OneMain.com, a publicly traded Internet Service Provider serving smaller and midsized markets. Its IPO raised $215 million. Following EarthLink’s acquisition of OneMain, Dan moved to Atlanta to become EarthLink’s vice president of corporate communications.

In this role, he was a company spokesperson and oversaw corporate positioning and outreach related to the Company’s financial performance, strategic partnerships, product launches, public policy, and brand. Dan also served as a leading advocate for the Company’s social media policy and programs.

Dan has served on the board of the Technology Association of Georgia Enterprise 2.0 Society. He is a graduate (High Honors) of Wesleyan University in Middletown Connecticut. He also completed numerous company-sponsored executive development programs at the Center for Creative Leadership, Kellogg School of Management, National Investor Relations Institute, and Wharton Business School.
